Creatively Curating Content

Image
Last class, we went over the website Paper.li to help find articles related to our majors and interests.  This will help us curate content for our twitter accounts and be informed in fields of study.  Also, Professor Calderwood told us that we have access to the program OneNote when we use our school email.  A feature that I found innovative is the ability to embed audio in the document.  My favorite aspect about the class is when I am introduced to software and receive a "crash course" on how to use its features for my academic advantage!         Paper.li allows people to create their own personal, virtual newspaper.  One of its best features it provides is automatically posting articles to your social media accounts, with your permission of course.   In this article , Jay Palter uses his post to convince his audience why this feature separates Paper.li from similar websites, like Scoop.it for example.  One tip Palter mentions is to follow the authors of the sour

Greetings!  This week's blog post's topic will center around utilizing Google.  In class, we learned ways to use google to help with research and smarter ways to type in searches.  We also were informed on how students can get access to Office 365 for free!  Students were tasked to create a slideshow with Google Tour Builder.  I shared my presentation on the blog which can be found here !   Image Source           Chapter 1 of Light, Bright, & Polite by Josh Ochs was assigned for homework.  Personally, I enjoy how Ochs does not waste time and dives straight into the point.  In the chapter, Ochs talks about social media etiquette.  On page ten, Ochs states, "Your tweets should outlast the week, month, and year... if they end up on a billboard for your parents to see or your boss finds your posts in the future."  The billboard analogy is striking because that is what somebody essentially does when they post online.   While it may sound silly, this method c

Learning cool, new tricks with Google!

Here is a light hearted presentation I created !  In class, we were learning about Google tips and tricks.  I do enjoy traveling and the ocean very much!   I think my favorite spots were Ocean City, NJ, and Tokyo, Japan.

Hello! I am Sofia Fanty!  I am a sophomore at Stockton University.  I currently am undecided regarding my major, but that should change over the course of my fall semester.  I enjoy learning about world language and culture, veterinarian science, theatre production, video games, and mortuary sciences.            Creating an online Personal Learning Networks (PLN) is a new, modern way to network.  In Ellen Lague's blog , she describes how she initially was not an active user on Twitter.  She would simply lurk the site without content on her page.  Since her first post,  Lague has been able to interact with like-minded individuals through the social media platform.  Hashtags, such as # saskedchat and #fslchat , allow people to create dialogue and build rapport between members of the community.  She can participate in chats and finds new blogs to help expand the conversation.   Image source          Building a virtual PLN allows people to form  connections with people who wou

Introducing Sofia Fanty

Hello and welcome!       My name is Sofia Fanty.  Currently, I am a sophomore at Stockton University .  I am member of the Honors Program and treasurer of the Stockton University Anime Club.  As of now, I have not decided on a major.  However, I am interested in potentially working with animals, theatre production, or video games.  I am employed at  Aunt B's which is located in Brigantine, New Jersey.  The summer season is extremely busy, and employees have many behind the scenes responsibilities aside from assisting customers.  Tasks typically include cleaning, restocking, and making products aside from ice cream in between providing customers with service.  From this job, I am able to practice quick thinking, problem solving, social skills, and money management.       An interesting fact about me is that I have studied abroad through the program CIEE to Tokyo, Japan, during July of 2017!  I was only sixteen years old at the time and would start junior year of high school come S
